Of all the stories that Kipling wrote, the ones about Mowgli must be the most famous and the most enjoyed. Mowgli, the boy who was brought up in the Indian jungle by a wolf family, who ws taught by Baloo the Bear and Bagheera the Black Panther, and had adventures with many other animals, including his particular enemy, Shere Khan the Lame Tiger, has been a favourite with readers since the first story about him appeared in 1893. That first story was In the Rukh. It did not appear in either The jungle book or The second jungle book — Rudyard Kipling wrote other stories about Mowgli for those two famous books. All The Mowgli stories does contain it, along with the other tales.
