D.H. Lawrence s second novel, The Trespasser, is based on the diary of Helen Corke, a friend of Lawrence whose adulterous relationship with a married man led to his suicide. Helena and Siegmund are in love. But there is more than one obstacle to their happiness. Siegmund is a married man with children and Helena is full of inhibitions. They spend a week tigether on the Isle of Wight, but on their return to London Siegmund faces a deadlock. David Herbert Richards Lawrence (1885−1930) was an English author, poet, playwright, essayist and literary critic. Lawrence has become famous for exploring the dehumanizing effects of modernity and industrialization in his writings, along with human sexuality and emotional well-being.
