Somadeva was the court poet of King Ananta of Kashmir. One of his great works, Kathasaritasagar, was written for the Queen of Kashmir. From this poem come these three stories, specially retold for children. They are mythological tales from India’s golden past — rich with splendour and pageantry for which India is famous throughout the world. The author, Dipika Solomon, is a teacher by profession and lives in Calcutta. This is her first book for children, but she has written several articles and radio scripts.
