Sheet Music Collection

RSLYA began developing a sheet music collection in the late 1960s and now it has 36 000 editions: world classical and folk music, opera and ballet, film and theatre scores, jazz, rock and pop music. We have publications for string, wind, percussion and keyboard instruments as well as orchestras, choirs and solo performers. Music published by almost all Russian and Soviet music publishers is kept in the collection; there are also many editions from 19th and 20th century foreign publishers: H.Litolff s Verlag, Ernst Eulenburg Ltd., Edition Peters, VEB Breitkopf & Hartel Musikverlag, VEB Deutscher Verlag fur Musik, Editio Musica Budapest, Poiskie wydawnictwo muzyczne and others. The most valuable items in the collection are the 3700 rare editions from the 19th and 20th century. Among them are piano reductions of Tchaikovsky, Verdi and Wagner operas published in the authors’ lifetimes; collected works by Tchaikovsky (63 volumes), Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (50 volumes), Sergei Prokofiev (20 volumes), Nikolai Medtner (8 volumes), Nikolai Myaskovsky (5 volumes); music theory materials (the 4-part Solfège by L.A. Sakketti, Russian historian, music theorist and critic, educator, author of a comprehensive history of music in the Russian language (1883); A Collection of Dictations from Rimsky-Korsakov’s operas and more); series of short collections of music for a particular voice type; and other unique publications.
